How are
Scholarship Funds raised?

Funds are raised through the generous support of businesses, service organizations and individuals who desire to sponsor scholarships in their name, as well as through the fundraising efforts of community volunteers. Your donations are tax deductible. If you would like to establish endowed scholarships, NY Latino Dollars For Scholars: Greater Capital Region may be named as a beneficiary in wills and insurance policies, or receive gifts of property.

Who is eligible to apply
for a Scholarship?

Latinos who live in Albany, Columbia, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga or Schenectady County and intend to pursue postsecondary education may complete an application for consideration.
Scholarships can be awarded to applicants intending to attend a two-year, four-year, vocational or technical college. Youth or adults may be eligible. (You are considered Latino if one or both of your parents are Latino.)

August 31, 2009

Where can I obtain a
scholarship application?

Applications are available online (click above, right for the appropriate version), at the high school Guidance Offices and public libraries in the six counties served. You may also request an application by writing to us at:

How are
Scholarships awarded?

Scholarship recipients will be chosen  by the Awards Committee on the basis of  academic achievement, leadership potential, community service, recommendations and an essay.
The Awards Committee is made up of  N.Y. Latino Dollars For Scholars: Greater Capital Region Board members and community volunteers.

        Notification: The Awards Committee will notify all applicants in writing as to selection status.
  Each applicant
  must submit:
   
1. A completed application
    2. A letter of recommendation
