Chartered in December of 2003, NY Latino Dollars For Scholars: Greater Capital Region, is a nonprofit, tax exempt scholarship foundation. It is locally operated and supported by volunteers serving the Latino communities of Albany, Columbia, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties.
We provide encouragement and financial support to local Latino students in pursuit of post secondary education.
NY Latino Dollars For Scholars is a chapter affiliate of Scholarship America, a nationally recognized, non profit, student aid service organization. The purpose of Dollars For Scholars is to expand access to educational opportunities by involving and assisting our community in the support of students and in the encouragement of education.
Dollars For Scholars chapters work with hundreds of colleges called "Collegiate Partners" that have agreed to accept these awards towards offsetting students needs or reducing loans. Many Collegiate Partners have also agreed to match Dollars For Scholars awards.
